The Capitol in the Snow
I love Washington in the Snow. The quiet sound of the snow falling amongst your footsteps. The ambient glow of the city lights. The quiet streets. Its like being in a different city.
Before the snow turns to sleet and freezing rain, I had to make it out before dawn. A walk to the Capitol and back did the trick. The only others out were the crews trying to beat the ice to clear the sidewalks around the capitol.
The light on these days reminds me of Edward Hopper paintings. The quiet glow of the street lights makes you feel like you’re the only one in the city.
